Big Girl Breakfast

Miss Georgia had a big girl breakfast of Cheerios, bananas and formula in a sippy cup. She loves to try to feed herself but the spoon just makes her mad...she doesn't quite get it yet. We will keep trying but for now she loves to eat with her hands!

The Wedding

I love weddings. They remind me of my own wedding, three years ago, and they remind me of God's design for man and woman and the picture he gives us of Christ and His Church. That was the main thing Chad and I wanted people to walk away with after our wedding. We pray that as John and Larissa grow in their love for one another that they also continue to grow in their love for Christ, placing Him in the center of their marriage. John and Larissa have been faithfully coming to our Bible study on Monday nights and are excited to serve at Christos Church as the Lord helps us to plant it through the help of our church, LaGrange Baptist. It was such an honor to spend their big day with them. Here are some highlights of the day.

Larissa coming down the aisle with her dad.

Their first kiss as husband and wife.

Larissa and her girls.

The most handsome groomsman ever, Chad.

The beautiful reception room. Every other table had tall vases with flowers and the rest had pedestal cake plates with satin wrapped packages that matched the dresses. I LOVED this idea and wish I had seen it before my wedding!
The favors were photos from a digital photo booth. I think the photos will be available to view online on their website in a few days. Just go to event date 07/26/08 and click on John and Larissa. It was so fun!

Rehearsal Dinner

Friday night was the rehearsal dinner for our friends', John and Larissa's, wedding. We had a great time helping them rehearse for the big day! The wedding was at the Water Tower and the dinner was at Tumbleweed on the river. Here are some highlights...

Free Train Rides!

Thursday nights in July, The Louisville Zoo stays open a little later and has free train rides after 6pm. Yesterday, Georgia and I went to the Zoo with our friends Betsy, Jacob and Lori. Here we are enjoying the train ride! We enjoyed walking around and looking at the animals too!

The Blackout

Once the weather started looking ominous, we left Amy and Carlos' to try to beat the rain home. Really there should have been no rush because this is what we rushed home to.

Georgia sleeping in her swing to candle light. With no power and such a busy day she was a pretty happy camper.

However, without the flash this is what our house looked like. Power was finally restored at 5:30 this morning!

Swimming Again

Our dear friends, Amy and Carlos, had us over to swim again last night. As promised, I took photos of people other than the babies. This is some of the volleyball game between Chad, Juan Carlos and Carlos vs. Pablo, Andrei and whoever wasn't manning the grill or babies. It went between Kathy, Fernanda and Amy. I am not so much a sports player so I just played with Georgia in the pool. She loved it!

This is Georgia after the fun in the pool. She wouldn't keep her swim hat on for long but we really sunscreened it up! She even went under a few times!

Georgia in her shades (for the 2 seconds I could keep them on her face!).

Fernanda and her kids Mathias and Elia in their shades (actually, Mathias is wearing Georgia's shades. I am glad someone would keep them on!).

Once we were all out of the pool and finished eating the sky grew black and the wind started to blow so we packed up to finish the evening inside. Georgia has fun wherever we go! Look at all those teeth!

Super Saturday

Georgia and Jacob playing together

Who do you think had the bigger mess; us or the kids?!?!?

Every few weeks or so a group of us try to get together to do something productive in the kitchen. We usually make jam when fruit is in season and is inexpensive, Christmas gifts in the winter and freezer meals all year long. It is so much work but it is so worth it to have several meals and side dishes in the freezer that only need to be thawed and baked! We usually use recipes from the 30 Day Gourmet website but sometimes we just freeze our favorites and see how they come out.

Today we met at my house and Betsy was the only one who was able to make it so Georgia and her son, Jacob played while we cooked. We made Parsley Parmesan Chicken (our favorite), Spinach and Artichoke dip, Baked corn casserole, Spaghetti Pie, Chocolate cookie dough and a big mess!

Lunch with Daddy

My dear sweet husband has changed his schedule to spend more time with us by taking Tuesdays off and working all day Thursdays instead. Georgia and I usually have lunch with my friend, Betsy, on Thursdays but today we met Chad at Macaroni Grill for lunch so he could see his little girl. Other than that the Nuss household has been pretty quiet lately!

I am trying to figure out how to post video on the blog and have yet to be successful but stay tuned because I am determined to get it to work!

The Zoo

Chad has recently changed his work schedule for the summer so we can spend more time together as a family. We were just taking Sunday and Mondays off together but since those were the only times we were ever together we were using them for stuff that needed to get done or getting together with other people which left very little time to do anything else! Now we have Together Tuesdays that we try to reserve for family day. We chose to spend our first one at the Zoo!

We had a great time walking around looking at the animals. For those of you who are Lost fans, you should check out my friend, Kim's, blog. She has a post about the Zoo you will love! http://cookbookscommentaries.blogspot.com/2008/06/for-my-lost-friends.html
I spent the rest of the time looking for the "stations"!

I loved these animals...I think they are the meercats?

By the end of our visit Georgia was sacked out...I guess we wear her out wherever we go!

When we got home daddy was worn out too!

9 Month Doctor Appointment

We went for Georgia's 9 month appointment yesterday (although she was 9 months on the 22nd of June). She is the picture of health; here are some of the highlights...
She is...
  • 29 and 3/4 inches long (97th percentile)
  • 20 lbs 3 and a half ounces (75th percentile)
  • still in the 90th percentile for her head size (18 inches)
She has pretty much stayed on the same growth scale so that is good. She is pretty big for her age but very healthy!

She loves to play with the paper on the table while we wait for Dr. Pallares to see us.

After the appointment we had time to eat lunch. Since she had fallen asleep during the second half of the appointment we put her in her stroller and felt bad about moving her again to her carseat so we walked to a barbeque place down the street from the office.

Sacked out after the check up. No shots this time! Yay!

Our friends Freddy T and Susan did this for their son, Jack, each month and I thought it was so cute that I try to do it too. It usually ends up being a few days late but it is close. That way when we look back through photos we will remember how old she is in them (or at least a few of them!).
